Kris Bair’s experience with Dunamis Connections

A letter from Kris Bair, Youth Leader of Bethesda Christian Fellowship (Ephrata, PA):

This was my first time leading a group on a mission trip, so I was nervous about everything I needed to do, such as booking airline tickets. However, I didn't need to worry because Dunamis took care of everything. They bought the tickets, lined up travel in South Africa from the airport to the house we stayed at, and took care of all the meals. Henry actually cooked the majority of the meals. We had two or three authentic South African meals, and the other meals were American-based.

Rafaela did a tremendously good job communicating with me about the trip details, sending me airline information, etc. She is a great asset to Dunamis and to your group that is going.

Henry is such a tremendous man of God to work with. I didn't know him before this trip, but after working together, planning, and going on the trip, I now consider him a great friend and mentor. He made the trip seamless and smooth, especially for me as the leader of the group. The only thing I had to do was arrange transport to and from the airport here in the USA.

From one leader to another, you don't have anything to worry about it—Dunamis takes care of everything. One thing I would encourage you to do as the group leader is to prepare your group as best as you can by meeting once a month or more for several months before your trip. Pray for the trip and prepare your group through Bible study. Prayer is a huge part of a trip like this.

One last thing to remember: you are going into a culture that is totally different from ours. Your goal is not to change their culture to what we are used to, but to serve, bless, and honor them in their culture. Most of all, just show them the love of God.

You won't regret going on a trip like this. It changes your worldview and makes a huge impact on your life. I hope to do it again someday.

God Bless,

Kris Bair
